ABOUT The Federation
The North American Hapkido TaeKwonDo Federation offers training, rank, and certification in taekwondo and hapkido. NAHTF is one of the oldest traditional Martial arts organizations in North America.
Our Federation is always looking for others to join us – we are stronger together! Our comprehensive, structured program of instruction includes written training curriculum and testing requirements for each level from white belt all the way up to 5th Dan in both taekwondo and hapkido. There are various drills that incorporate bags and targets that work incredibly well and keep students engaged and learning while having fun. In addition, as a member you will gain access to a very structured 12 minute warm-up that has been used for decades and effectively kept our students safe from injury. Finally, members gain access to other areas of training not typically available such as chi breathing techniques. Whereas our warm-up is designed to build physical and core strength, balance and flexibility, our chi exercises develop internal power, health and vitality.
By incorporating both a “hard” style (taekwondo) and a “soft” style (hapkido), we are able to provide a very well-rounded program that enables our members to have a large number of varied techniques that can be applied to any situation. The focus of the NAHTF is self-defense, not “sport” or “tournament” training. While we do provide sparring drills and encourage them, students are taught lethal as well as non-lethal techniques. This is one major area where our Federation differs from others.
The North American Hapkido TaeKwonDo Federation also has an extensive and structured weapons curriculum. Starting at white belt, basic sword and nunchaku techniques are introduced. At 1st Dan, knife defenses are added, and the 6’ bo staff becomes an integral part of training until 2nd Dan at which point the kumdo is used extensively. At 3rd Dan multiple weapons are added including the three-section staff, tonfa, short stick and cane. After 4th Dan additional weapons are added including the butterfly knife, sai, kama, butterfly swords, steel fan and spear. Along the way, knife and shuriken throwing are introduced as well. We have a very comprehensive weapons curriculum!
Finally, there are editable forms provided such as attendance cards, testing papers, marketing plans, student trackers and much, much more. You will have everything you need to succeed.
